How we can help your organization with your Verona Fights Hunger effort.
We hope you will join us in this coordinated effort. Verona Fights Hunger is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community. We are asking local businesses, civic groups, charities and religious organizations to participate in this “supersized” food drive.
The number of suburban residents living in or at risk of poverty and hunger has risen dramatically in recent years. An increasing number of local families rely on emergency food banks such as the Montclair Human Needs Pantry. In Verona, the number of families receiving some form of assistance has grown to over 79 households, including 115 children. The Verona Juniors feel that it is important to come together to ensure that none of our neighbors go hungry.
The Verona Juniors will coordinate the collection of food for the Verona Fights Hunger Week in two ways:
The Juniors will provide a toolkit to your organization to solicit food donations, including brown shopping bags to fill and a Verona Fights Hunger donation form. We ask that your members fill the paper bags provided to you, either on their own or by soliciting donations from friends and neighbors, and then bring the donations to Town Hall on October 18.
The Juniors will also collect food at monitored collection bins at Town Hall, the Community Center, and Verona Public Library throughout the week.
The Juniors will arrange for a truck to bring all the collected food to the Human Needs Pantry on October 18.
