June 14, 2017 – On June 7, 2017, Junior Woman’s Club president Erika Grothues presented three $1,000 scholarships at the Verona High School Awards night. The award winners were:
• John T. Reisenman Memorial Scholarship - Maggie Maranz
• Jane Meyers Scholarship - Joseph Anello
• Junior Woman's Club of Verona Scholarship - Olivia Lucanie
Thanks to the support of the community over the past year, the Juniors awarded these three scholarships to deserving high school seniors. All graduating seniors who are Verona residents were eligible to apply for the three scholarships.

Thanks to the support of the community over the past year, the Junior Woman’s Club of Verona will again be able to award three scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Each scholarship is worth $1,000. Applicants must reside in Verona and be a graduating 2017 high school student. Scholarships are non-renewable.
All three scholarships are for seniors who have decided to pursue a form of higher education. One scholarship is specifically for a student planning to major in the arts and another is earmarked for a student who has demonstrated the principles of community service and/or charity work during high school. More details and requirements for each scholarship are included on the application below. Applications may also be picked up from the Verona High School Guidance office.
Please join us for a fun morning of crafts, a breakfast buffet and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. Children will receive a goody bag. A 50/50 raffle will be held for adults and a Jelly Bean guessing game for kids and kids at heart! All proceeds from the Bunny Brunch go towards our Adopt a Family program which supported 80 Verona families in 2016, with approximately 100 school aged children. Click here to buy tickets in advance.
The Junior Women's Club of Verona held their 80s and 90s costume party on Saturday, February 25th. Take a look at the picture gallery below to see how much fun was had by all in attendance!
The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona held a creative writing contest in December and is very pleased to announce the winners.
The contest received 71 entries in total and a panel of judges made up of six Verona residents picked the three winners who all attend HBW Middle School. First place was awarded to “A World With No Sound” by Katie Hunt, who is a 7th grader. Second place was awarded to “Applause “by Emily Wynne”, an 8th grader. Third place was awarded to “Always Remember” by Eleanor Newman, a 7th grader.
The contest was open to Verona residents in grades six, seven and eight. The first place winner received a $50 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble and the second and third place each received $25 gift certificates.
Katie Hunt’s first place winning story will be submitted to the state-wide creative writing contest sponsored by the New Jersey Federation of Woman’s Clubs.
“The high quality of the creative writing in stories written by Verona’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students impressed the panel of judges,” said Christine McGrath and Julia Allen, Arts Creative Chairwomen for the Verona Juniors. “We loved reading all of the stories and look forward to hosting this contest again in the future.”

The Junior Women's Club hosted their annual spelling bee in the auditorium of F. N. Brown Elementary School on January 21, 2017. The spelling bee was open to all Verona 4th and 5th graders and the kids all did a fantastic job. A special thank you to our panel of judges: Verona Public Library Director Cheryl Ashley, Library Media Specialist Corisa Walker and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Charles Miller.
